As a board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Virginia Hung focuses her expertise on proven surgical techniques at Dexterity Surgical, with offices in Woburn and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Hung has a certificate of added qualification in hand surgery and specializes in surgery of the hand and upper extremity. She has over 20 years of experience as a physician and over 15 years of experience as a hand surgery specialist.
As a result of time spent training with Dr. A. Lee Dellon, a pioneer of peripheral nerve surgery, Dr. Hung also performs innovative surgeries to relieve the chronic pain of nerve injuries and compression neuropathies in both the upper and lower extremities including diabetic neuropathy, pain after total knee arthroplasty, and common peroneal nerve compression (e.g. foot drop).
In addition to her work at Dexterity Surgical, Dr. Hung is affiliated with Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Hallmark Health System in Medford/Melrose, and Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She serves as chief of the division of hand surgery at Winchester Hospital.
Dr. Hung earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston and went on to complete a Harvard Plastic Surgery Combined Residency. She also received her fellowship training in hand surgery at Curtis Memorial National Hand Center in Baltimore.
At her private practice, Dr. Hung offers customized surgical treatment plans for a number of acute and chronic conditions, such as fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, ganglion cysts, neoplasms, tendonitis, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and peripheral neuropathy and nerve injuries.
