Dr. Kannabiran graduated summa cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the accelerated 7-year BS/MD program with Albany Medical College. While attending medical school, he was selected as a National Institutes of Health Clinical Research Training Program Fellow and spent one year in Bethesda, Maryland at the NIH studying pharmaceutical therapies for head and neck cancer. He then completed a surgical internship, residency, and chief residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Boston University Medical Center Program. His rigorous training involved rotations at Boston Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Lahey Medical Center, Boston VA Hospital System, and Advanced Facial Aesthetics. At the completion of his residency, he was awarded the department Jalisi Award for outstanding teaching to medical students and residents.
Dr. Kannabiran’s clinical interests include voice and swallowing disorders, nasal obstruction and sinus disorders, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and pediatric otolaryngology. He currently holds staff privileges at Lowell General Hospital, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Emerson Hospital, and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and continues to teach medical students through these affiliations.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and is a trained classical vocalist and violinist.
